## About these guides

What underwear is made of, what the certifications cover, and what is not known. Each guide opens with a direct answer and shows its numbers. Materials and certification only. Nothing here is medical advice.

## The guides

- [Are there 100% cotton boxer briefs that are not a blend?](https://houseofexodus.co/guides/100-percent-cotton-boxer-briefs.md): Yes, but they are rare; most underwear labeled cotton is a 95/5 cotton-elastane blend and value multipacks are often 60/40 cotton-polyester, covering why brands add synthetics, what that plastic costs you, and what to read on the label.
- [What makes men's underwear non-toxic?](https://houseofexodus.co/guides/non-toxic-mens-underwear.md): How PFAS, BPA, phthalates, and azo dyes reach clothing through finishes, fiber production, prints, and dye chemistry, and what GOTS (fiber and processing) and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (the finished garment) each rule out.
- [What underwear has no microplastics?](https://houseofexodus.co/guides/underwear-without-microplastics.md): Underwear with no synthetic fiber; polyester, nylon, acrylic, and elastane shed plastic in the wash while cotton, wool, and linen do not, with how to read a composition label and what the laundry studies measured.
- [What is EXODUS underwear made of?](https://houseofexodus.co/guides/whats-in-our-underwear.md): The Goshen Boxer Brief is 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, a 200gsm tagless knit with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 dyes, third-party lab tested for azo dyes, heavy metals, and carcinogens, and what those certifications do not cover.

## Questions

### What underwear has no microplastics?

Underwear with no synthetic fiber in it. A garment cut from 100% cotton sheds cellulose, not plastic, so check the label for any percentage of polyester, nylon, acrylic, or elastane.

### Is 100% cotton underwear actually 100% cotton?

Often not. Most underwear sold as cotton is a 95/5 cotton-elastane blend, so read the composition label rather than the product name.

### What is the difference between GOTS and OEKO-TEX?

GOTS certifies organic fiber and how it is processed from field to garment. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests the finished textile for harmful substances. They are different standards, and a garment can carry one without the other.

### Are these guides medical advice?

No. The guides cover materials and certifications only, and EXODUS makes no health, hormonal, or fertility claim.
