# The Goshen Story: Set Apart From the Plagues | EXODUS

> The Goshen story is the editorial page of EXODUS (House of Exodus), explaining why its organic cotton boxer brief is named for Goshen, the land the plagues did not touch, at https://houseofexodus.co/story.

## The idea

In the book of Exodus, ten plagues fall on Egypt. Goshen, where the Israelites lived, is the one place they did not reach: "Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were, was there no hail" (Exodus 9:26, see also 8:22).

EXODUS names its boxer brief after that place. The story page walks through the modern plagues in most underwear drawers, then shows what Goshen is made of instead. It is a scroll-driven page with a 3D model of the Goshen Boxer Brief that can be viewed in all three colorways (LIGHT, SHADOW, JADE).

## The modern plagues

The page names six, all about what underwear is made of and how it is finished.

1. **Microplastics.** Polyester, nylon, and elastane shed plastic fibers. Goshen has no synthetic fiber in its fabric. More: https://houseofexodus.co/guides/underwear-without-microplastics.md
2. **Chemical dyes.** Most underwear is colored with dyes the label never names. Goshen uses OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified dyes.
3. **Endocrine disruptors.** Additives such as BPA and phthalates enter clothing through synthetic fiber production, prints, and finishes. Goshen is lab tested for zero BPA and zero phthalates. More: https://houseofexodus.co/guides/non-toxic-mens-underwear.md
4. **Heat.** Synthetic blends trap heat against the body. Goshen is breathable 200gsm cotton.
5. **Itchiness.** Conventional cotton is grown with synthetic pesticides, and tags and rough seams irritate skin. Goshen is organic cotton, tagless, and flat-seamed.
6. **Synthetics.** Goshen contains zero synthetic fibers in its fabric, certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

The page cites published research for each plague, as research, not as a promise about what any garment does for the wearer.

## Out of the plagues: set apart

The page ends with what Goshen is:

1. **100% organic cotton:** GOTS-certified, field to fabric
2. **OEKO-TEX dyes:** color without undisclosed chemistry
3. **Lab tested:** no BPA, no phthalates, no azo dyes, no heavy metals
4. **Zero synthetics:** no polyester, nylon, or elastane in the fabric
5. **200gsm and tagless:** heavyweight cotton, nothing that scratches

Named for the land set apart from the plagues: Goshen.

## Questions

### Why is it called Goshen?

Goshen is the region of Egypt where the Israelites lived, and the one place the plagues did not fall (Exodus 9:26). The boxer brief is named for that ground set apart.

### Is EXODUS a religious organization?

No. EXODUS is a men's underwear brand. It takes its name and its central metaphor from the book of Exodus, but it is not a church, ministry, or publisher.

### What are the "plagues" on the story page?

Six problems with how most underwear is made: microplastics, chemical dyes, endocrine-disrupting additives, heat, itchiness, and synthetic fiber. Goshen avoids each by being 100% organic cotton with certified dyes.

### Does EXODUS claim Goshen protects your health?

No. EXODUS claims only what the garment is made of and how it was tested. It makes no testosterone, fertility, or medical claim.
